“I guess you could call me a digital singer-songwriter. Powered by a heritage of great songwriters and 21st century toys.”
“For me, music has always been about one thing: improvising – expressing myself through various instruments and vocals. That is what music means to me, and creating something, writing something was always the natural outcome of my early encounters with instruments. In the end, it always seems to come down to alternative and rock music for me as a foundation. I’ve been influenced by music based on electric-, electronic- and acoustic instruments, and I’m quite happy to use them all as compliments to each other in my music”.
“…the moment you put a name on something, you’ve limited it to what that word implies, and it’s no longer open for interpretation.”
“I do not worry much about genres, and for the sake of creativity those kinds of barriers I can certainly do without. Everything influences me in different ways and to different degrees, I don’t feel the need to put a name on it. Hopefully, the listener will find that the characteristics of Anders Chriss shine through anyhow. It’s like the old Taoist’s say: the moment you put a name on something, you’ve limited it to what that word implies, and it’s no longer open for interpretation. So basically; if it feels good and it sounds good – it’s good. And I tend to leave it at that”.
“I’ve previously spent several years in China; both as a resident musician and touring mainland China and Taiwan with my own projects: “Anders Chriss” and “The Roadkills“. Nowadays I’m back in Gothenburg, Sweden, creating and recording new music.”
